Most of the images on this website are from a collection of large format 8 X 10 inch negatives of Houston and the surrounding area. Saved from the recyclers oven by Story Sloane Jr. they represent a slice of life during a period of critical growth in Houston's history. Some of the negatives are in mint condition and some have seen over 70 years of abuse. They all tell a story of Houston's past. The ultimate goal is to raise funds for a book. Any information that "You" the viewer can add to the accuracy of the captions would help aid in the historical presentation of the photographs. All images on this website are for sale. All revenues are used for archiving the collection and presentation to the public. A substantial exhibition of enlarged prints can be found at Story Sloane's Gallery , 1570 South Dairy Ashford, suite 113 Houston, Texas 77077, 281-496-2212
