Well baseball season is finally here, hurray! The steroid issue was shelved with the crack of a bat as fans get ready for hopes of a pennant. Now that the Astros owner has traded away all of the talent I thought it might be fun to show one of my vintage baseball images.  This is a photograph of Babe Ruth taken at the Houston city Auditorium. He was in town to give a talk to the Kiwanis Club “Knot Hole Gang” boys group. This group was made up of boys who could not afford to go to the baseball games. Babe Ruth came to Houston on several occasions but this time it was March 29, 1930. Here the Babe is shown with the Houston Buffaloes on the stage. The rest of the Yankees went on to their next game in New Orleans.  The Yankees were in town for two games and they creamed the Houston Buffaloes... The first game went 17 - 2 the Babe's way...A sparse crowd of 3000 watched the bloodbath for that first game.
